Prior to forming Harlan Law Firm, Hansel worked with another Law Firm, Phelps Dunbar in the Commercial Litigation Section. Mr. Harlan had a general national commercial litigation practice with a specialization in commercial bankruptcy.

Mr. Harlan’s litigation experience includes banking, breach of contract, class action, commercial foreclosure, construction, merger and acquisition, products liability, redhibition, intellectual property, and insurance. His extensive bankruptcy experience includes representation of secured and unsecured creditors and debtors in both Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 cases. Prior debtor-clients include Jitney Jungle Stores of America, Inc., Delchamps, Inc., SGSM Acquisition Corp., LLC (owner/operator of Schwegmann Giant Supermarkets), and Lundy Enterprises, LLC (owner/operator of approximately sixty Pizza Hut franchises in South Louisiana). Prior creditor-clients include General Motors Corporation, Lloyd’s of London, Rubbermaid, Inc., Lucent Technologies, AEGON, USA, Midas International, Inc., Credit Suisse First Boston, G.E. Capital, Hibernia National Bank, and First National Bank of Commerce.

In his previous years, he worked as an associate at a Civil Trial and appellate litigation firm called Barham & Arceneaux. Hansel also has experience working at the Supreme Court of Louisiana as a Law Clerk to the Honorable James L. Dennis.

For the last fifteen years, Mr. Harlan’s practice has focused on residential and commercial real estate title curative litigation on behalf of, or for the insureds of, title insurance companies in Louisiana. Representative clients include Stewart Title Guaranty Company, The Security Title Guarantee Corporation of Baltimore, First American Title Insurance Company, JPMorgan Chase Bank, Bank of America, Bank of New York Trust, Deutsche Bank, Capital One Bank, and Regions Bank. Practice also includes prosecution of legal malpractice actions in the area of real estate closings.
